Last week we took an exploratory trip to Rwanda and Burundi. We came to Malawi knowing that Randy was taking a terminal sabbatical from Cincinnati Children’s Hospital which would end in August. The question has been what does God have next for us? So we went to check out a few possibilities. We had an amazing trip, full of surprises and blessings. In the tradition of Psalm 136, which is a liturgy of praise as it inventories the wonder of God as Creator and Redeemer, I would like to share in pictures and brief text an inventory of wonder from our past week of travels.
Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good. His love endures forever.
Give thanks for exquisite colors proudly worn.
His love endures forever.
Give thanks for delicacy brazenly borne.
Give thanks for strength so gently shown.
His love endures forever.
Give thanks for playfulness so easily known.
His love endures forever.
Give thanks for beauty so generously given.
His love endures forever.
Give thanks for the wonders on earth that open a glimpse of heaven.
His love endures forever.
Give thanks to Him from the greatest to the small,
His love endures forever.
as He celebrates His love over all.
His love endures forever.
Give thanks to the One who gives land and seed to be sown
His love endures forever.
blessing the labors of many with the fruit that has grown.
Give thanks to the One who rebuilds lives from suffering they have long borne
His love endures forever
who heals the malady of strife with peace that transforms.
His love endures forever
Give thanks to the One who works restoration
His love endures forever
rebuilding lives, hope and a nation.
His love endures forever
Give thanks to the One who brings people together
His love endures forever
for works of mercy in sharing their lives.
His love endures forever
who restores shalom peace through His Spirit
His love endures forever
that others may see, know and hear it
Give thanks,
give thanks,
give thanks,
For His love endures forever!
We are continuing to pursue just where and what God would have us do. Some of these pictures are from the work of Hope Africa University in Bujumbura, Burundi and their hospital in Kibuye, one of the possibilities for us. We covet any and all prayers for God’s leading and confirmation.
Hi, Randy and Carolyn- Thanks for this lovely entry-it is my moment of worship on a break from a busy Sunday at work!
thanks for the visit ! praying that God will make it clear as to what is next for you, I did not realize you still had other options. God is at work all over the world, isn’t that wonderful. I had a week long of hiking with my sis, thought about your daughter last summer… and prayed for all your family. I love praying! His love endures for ever!
It seems like you just got there and are still in the process of getting settled!! But already just 4 mos. there and you must be looking on. Your photos are amazing! It must be very different to look thru the lens wondering if this is where God will be directing your path next. . .or are you just visiting. Still love your thoughtful, reflective posts. And miss you.
